Doctors Worth Following: My Favorite Evidence-Based Health Voices
There is a lot of health and wellness information on social media, and unfortunately, not all of it is evidence-based. As a physician specializing in preventive medicine and obesity medicine, I’m pretty selective about who I follow. Even though I am not professionally active on social media much, it can be a great source of information sometimes!
Here are a few of my favorites who consistently share thoughtful, science-based information about obesity, metabolic health, nutrition, hormones, and the latest treatments:
- Susan Brian, MD — An endocrinologist whose content I especially enjoy for her thoughtful discussions around GLP-1 medications, metabolic health, menopause, and women’s health.
- Spencer Nadolsky, DO — One of my favorite voices in obesity medicine and he can be pretty funny too. He shares practical, evidence-based information about weight management, GLP-1 medications, nutrition, exercise, and metabolic health.
- Karl Nadolsky, DO — An endocrinologist and obesity medicine physician who shares great content on metabolic health, obesity treatment, and lifestyle medicine. I also really enjoy the “Docs who Lift” podcast that he shares with his brother Spencer (above), which is an easy way to stay up to date on the latest obesity and metabolic health topics.
- Fatima Cody Stanford, MD — A leading obesity medicine physician and researcher whose content blends science, clinical expertise, and education about obesity as a chronic disease.
- Rocio Salas-Whalen, MD — Another great follow for GLP-1 updates, obesity medicine, hormones, and metabolic health.
These are the kinds of accounts I appreciate most: physicians who make complex topics understandable while staying grounded in the science. Social media can actually be a great place to learn…when you know who to listen to!
