About Dr. Kate Haggerty
I’m originally from Hawaii and am double board-certified in Preventive
Medicine and Obesity Medicine. I majored in Neuroscience and Behavior
at UC Santa Cruz, where I first became fascinated by the connection
between mind and body (a theme that still shapes how I practice
medicine today).
I received my medical degree from the University of Hawaii, completed
an internship in Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA, and finished my
residency in Preventive Medicine and Public Health at UC San Diego
while earning my Master’s in Public Health at San Diego State
University. In 2023, I became a Diplomate of the American Board of
Obesity Medicine.
My practice is centered on whole-person care and the six pillars of
lifestyle medicine:
- Nourishing foods
- Regular movement
- Restorative sleep
- Stress management
- Minimizing high-risk substances
- Positive social connections
I believe lasting health comes from addressing the whole person, not
just a number on a chart.
